Handwoven 'Escallonia Rainbow' red and multi colour Pixel Design Silk Scarf

Made with the finest hand-dyed silk yarns, this scarf, with its subtle shades of red, is reminiscent of the flowers on the escallonia hedges thriving on Skye. It is woven with a hand-dyed red weft further intensifying the colours. The contrasting  multi colour “pixel squares”, hand-painted with dyes mimicing the myriad  of vivid colours in the many rainbows seen on the island, are incorporated using a supplementary warp technique.
 
This piece, made from 100% silk, is individually designed and cannot be replicated. Meticulously woven in a fine silk at 80 ends (threads) per inch in a 2/2 twill background on a traditional 8 shaft floor loom, the result is a luxurious silk textile, sumptuously coloured and exquisitely made. Every scarf is finished with hand hemstitching, a fringe and a “Jaine Mahon” label.
